Pilates

The method developed by Joseph Pilates, originally called Contrology, has truly revolutionized the fitness industry. Many people think of Pilates as a stretching technique, but it is so much more! Pilates engages both the mind and the body, using a holistic approach to exercise. Pilates will strengthen your core (what Joseph Pilates called the “powerhouse of the body”) and as a result, your whole body will become stronger. Pilates exercises also improve balance and coordination. Improving range of motion in your joints and correcting muscle imbalances can help to prevent injuries by increasing stability and improving posture. Pilates exercises are performed with attention to proper form, breathing and attention to movement patterns. Pilates exercises can be performed on the mat (often with props like rollers, balls, or rings) or on equipment. At Studio100 Pilates, we use a variety of top-of-the-line Merrithew equipment, including the Cadillac, V2 Max Plus Reformers with Vertical Frames, Stabilty Chairs, and the Ladder Barrel. We also use the CoreAlign, Barre, Arcs, Bosus, Halo Trainer, and Fuse Ladder, as well as the Bodhi Suspension System. Having all of these tools at our disposal allows me to customize a workout specifically for your goals, and to make modifications based on any challenges you might have. Private and Duet sessions are available, as well as small group classes. Some people use Pilates as a way of stretching, recovering, and releasing. Some people use Pilates as a strengthening and toning workout. Some people use Pilates to help them come back from pregnancy or injury. Anyone can do Pilates; my youngest client is 12 and my oldest is 90!

Outdoor Workouts

Classes meet at reno parks & Running tracks

Working out outside is fun and adds variety to your workouts! Whether you prefer a private workout or a class, and whether you prefer Yoga, Running, or Fitness, the outdoors has something to offer. In a Circuit-Training class, we use resistance tubing or TRX and body weight exercises, as well as whatever our location has to offer. We may be balancing on boulders, doing tricep dips or step-ups on picnic benches, or using playground equipment for balancing lunges. It’s all about being creative and having fun! Outdoor Yoga classes give us the opportunity to breathe and connect with nature during our practice. Running training (either a private session or a class) can be at a park, at the track, or on the roads and bike paths. The combination of fresh air, sunshine, and using our bodies in a variety of movement patterns over different types of terrain, is a great way to challenge yourself and have a great time!

In-Home and Online Training

I’ll come to you! In your home, at work, or online.

There are lots of reasons to work out at home, and for many it is the best option. If you have a home gym or reformer, I can take you through a workout designed just for you, showing you new ways to use the equipment you have, and incorporating some of your favorite exercises. If you have a pool, we can create a fun workout using water exercise and cross-training on the pool deck with small equipment. If you don’t have a home gym, I can bring equipment to you, including mats, hand weights, medicine balls, Bosu, foam rollers, Pilates rings, stability balls, and TRX. I can come to your house for a customized Yoga practice or Pilates session, indoors or outside in your yard. If you have a pool, we can even do some or all of your Yoga practice in the water! If you have a gym at work, I can meet you there for a workout, and if you work near a park, that’s an option, too! If you are a runner, we can train on a treadmill at your house, at the track, in a park, or on the roads or bike paths… anywhere you like. If you are traveling or stuck at home, we can arrange an online workout, Pilates, or Yoga session, with or without equipment. We can customize a workout you can do in your hotel room or hotel gym to keep you on track while you are traveling. An online session is also a great way to check in with your running goals and progress if you are traveling, or just want to do your running on your own.
