I BELIEVE IN FINDING HAPPINESS THROUGH MOVEMENT & THAT FITNESS IS FOR EVERYONE, AND EVERY BODY.

I train my clients using a personalized approach, blending a combination of Pilates, Yoga, strength training, barre, TRX, Bodhi, and cardio. My philosophy is that fitness, in some form, is for everyone, and that there is some type of fitness that is right for every body. By designing workouts based on each of my clients’ goals, interests, and/or limitations, together we can find something that will resonate with everyone and will make every body feel strong, successful, and happy. I believe that cross-training is the best way for my clients to continually progress and to stay positive and focused on their health and wellness. I work in Reno, Nevada, at Studio100 Pilates, as well as offering in-home Yoga and training, marathon/running and recovery, and Yoga and group circuit-training classes outdoors.

About Deb…

Ironically, I spent my entire high school life figuring out ways to cut gym class. If there had been a “least athletic” category, I would have won it, hands down. Growing up, team sports were the only option for fitness, and I was so convinced that I was too uncoordinated to play that I never even tried. I discovered aerobics and dance-based exercise classes while I was in college and for the first time, I discovered that movement felt amazing. Movement made me happy. Movement made me feel strong and coordinated for the first time, and it drastically improved my self esteem. Eventually, I became a certified group fitness instructor. I have worked in the fitness industry since 1993, and helping others find their own path to health and fitness has become my passion.

When I moved to Reno, NV, in 1995, fitness became my full-time job. I became a certified personal trainer, and began to blend skills, disciplines and teaching techniques from both group fitness and personal training, developing a loyal following of clients who wanted to improve their sports performance, prevent and recover from injuries, stay healthy during pregnancy, lose weight, and improve their overall wellness. I eventually found a home at Lakeridge Tennis Club, where I worked for 23 years, until the club closed in 2020. While at Lakeridge, I expanded my teaching repertoire, adding Yoga, Barre, TRX, Spinning, and Outdoor Fitness to my schedule, and combining these disciplines with my personal training clients.

I love to work with and encourage runners of all levels not to be afraid to test themselves, finding the confidence to try running a race for the first time, or stretching themselves by running a distance or a time they never thought they could. I also enjoy helping runners to improve their performance and train for races (particularly marathons) and I use Yoga and Pilates to assist in recovery. I didn’t start running myself until I was in my 30s, but once I fell in love with it, I began training seriously and I have now run 23 marathons, including all 6 of the World Marathon Majors.

I was the director of Pilates at Lakeridge. Now I teach Pilates, privately and in small groups, at True Pilates and Physiotherapy, and Hug Pilates & Wellness. In addition, I hold classes outdoors, and I am available for in-home and online Yoga and Pilates, as well as strength and running training. My training style blends different disciplines and techniques, cross-training runners with Pilates and incorporating mixed techniques like TRX, Yoga, Pilates matwork and Barre into my clients’ workouts. My training philosophy stems from my belief that a blended, holistic approach to fitness is the key to keeping my clients interested, injury-free, successful, and happy.

If you are ready to explore how movement can bring you happiness, please get in touch! Whether you are an athlete, a beginner, recovering from injury, or just looking for a new challenge, there is something out there that will resonate with you. Don’t be afraid to try new things. Movement can make you happy. Movement can change your life. I firmly believes that fitness is for everyone, and that there is an appropriate and exciting form of fitness for every body.
